Party Walls
Party Walls are a wall that remains on the side of a building after an adjoining building has been torn down. The Party Wall has remains of the other building, like wallpaper, paint, and old wiring, and the rooms and staircases of the missing building are still apparent. These Party Walls are a common sight in Pittsburgh, and some of them are very attractive in a curious way. I’m working on documenting them through jewelry. Each brooch is based on an existing Party Wall, and I’m using found materials from the site when possible.
